January 12: 새해 다짐 Reflection & New Year Resolution
Description: Reflect on the previous year by creating a Korean keyword-based mind map, focusing on experiences, emotions, and memorable moments. Share reflections and New Year resolutions with each other.
January 19: 한국 전래 동화 Roleplay Korean Folklore
Description: Work in small groups to read and explore well-known Korean folktales such as The Tale of Hong Gildong, The Tale of Chunhyang, The Tale of Heungbu and Nolbu, and The Tale of Shim Cheong. Each group will summarize their story in Korean and reenact selected dramatic scenes, adapting dialogue in simple, natural Korean.
January 26: 캘리그라피 Idioms & Calligraphy
Description: Explore common Korean idioms by guessing their meanings and discussing possible interpretations in Korean. After learning the correct meanings and usage, practice writing selected idioms through calligraphy, reflecting on the imagery and cultural background behind each expression.
February 2: 전통 음악과 공연 Traditional K-Music/Theater
Description: Watch short video clips of Korean traditional music and performance forms such as pansori, buchaechum, talchum, sajachum, and pungmulnori. Discuss their impressions, emotions, and observations in Korean. Create their own tal---the traditional mask used in talchum---and introduce their mask’s character and meaning.
February 9: 화투 1 Hwatu 1
Description: Residents will learn to recognize Hwatu cards by playing a card-matching game. While playing, they will practice naming cards, describing images, and using simple Korean expressions related to colors, numbers, and actions.
February 16: 화투 1 Hwatu 1
Description: Hwatu is a traditional Korean card game played with illustrated cards that represent the months of the year and are commonly used in games like Go-Stop. Play Hwatu in small groups. Use common Korean game expressions to announce actions, react to outcomes, and interact with other players.
February 23: 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 Red Light Green Light
Description: Learn about the origin of the game Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed (Red Light Green Light) and play it in various adapted versions.
March 9: 케이팝 받아쓰기 K-Pop Dictation
Description: Listen to K-pop songs and complete lyric worksheets by filling in missing words. Work together to guess and discuss possible answers, encouraging active listening and natural Korean conversation through collaboration and shared reasoning.
March 16: 김밥 만들기 Making Gimbal
Description: Learn how to make gimbap, a traditional Korean rolled dish, while following instructions in Korean. During the activity, they will practice food-related vocabulary and natural conversational expressions as they describe ingredients, share preferences, and interact with others.
March 23: 데이트 문화 Dating Culture
Description: Engage in a blind date–style role-play activity using fictional profiles. Through guided questions and scenarios, residents will practice conversational Korean while exploring common dating expressions and cultural norms in a low-pressure, playful setting.
March 30: 마피아 게임 Mafia Game
Description: Play the Mafia game, a social deduction game that encourages active speaking and listening. Each player is secretly assigned a role (e.g., Mafia, Citizen, Police, etc.). Through discussion, sharing suspicions, and voting on who they believe is the Mafia, residents will practice conversational Korean.
April 6: 토론 게임 Debate Cards Game
Description: Draw cards with discussion topics and get assigned a position (agree or disagree). Share their opinions, explain their reasoning, and respond to others’ ideas in Korean.
April 13: 스무고개 20 Questions
Description: One player thinks of an object, person, or concept, and others take turns asking yes-or-no questions to guess what it is within 20 questions. Through asking questions, making guesses, and responding to others, residents will practice descriptive language, logical thinking, and natural conversational Korean in an interactive and engaging way.
April 20: 스토리 이어말하기 Continue the Story
Description: Play a collaborative storytelling game using a random word generator. Taking turns, each resident will create a sentence that continues the story while including a randomly generated Korean word. Each sentence must logically connect to the previous part of the story.
